Is your communication memorable?
Hi Everyone and welcome to another edition of the Coach Insight newsletter. The last two weeks have been dominated (football-wise) with Who’s in charge of Manchester United from Ole being sacked to Michael Carrick being caretaker, to Ralk Rangnick being interim until the end of the season. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to come in partway through a season. What would that first session be like, how do you get to know the players ASAP, how do you win them over? A difficult job with lots of moving parts but something that would be an amazing learning experience. Right enough of me and on to the top ten!
The Top Ten
I like this blog post from George Roberts on communication and making your messages as memorable as possible. Something we all want to ensure once our plays start playing in the game. George takes into account praise, energy, tone, volume, storytelling, and role models.

After the big fanfare of Man Utd about/have hired (depending on when you're reading this) the German "good father of football" Ralf Rangnick, what really was his influence on the elite level German coaches. In this article, we learn about their philosophies around defending, pressing, and actively winning the ball. A lot to digest but definitely some things you can take away to create sessions and get your teams to try.
Tom Hartley here replying with a great infographic to a video from head of coaching at UK coaching Nick Levett. How many of these coaching behaviours do you display/transmit
Transformational Coaching behaviours down to a tee! This is coaching. Relational coaching that focuses on people. Communication is at the heart of it. Talk to people, like adults (in this context), not like you ‘own the team’ or them. It’s about everyone, not the leader. And similar principles for me apply at all levels. https://t.co/ZgHGdDlNqVNick Levett @nlevettAn excellent article on Pep Guardiola’s evolution and how he has adapted his team to try and solve his team’s defensive issues.
