Hi Everyone, welcome to another edition of the Coach Insights newsletter. You may or may not have noticed but I’ve changed the cadence to fortnightly, I recently changed jobs and am now even busier, I didn’t want to stop because this newsletter is as much a way for me to learn as it is for you to enjoy. I know I always have some article linking to scanning but it's one of the best skillsets a player can have no matter the position they play! Even goalkeepers need good scanning skills
Another debate that rages on is kids playing competitive football. Is competition good for kids? My personal opinion is yes, kids compete every day outside of adult interaction, whether that be siblings, on the playground, or playing games. Kids love to compete, the issue is the adults. Some adults take things too far and have a real lack of emotional control. Anyway don't take my word for it. have a read of this article from parents (dot) com.

Excellent talk and article from the Player Development Project team talking through the game formats in the foundation phase. For those working outside of those phases, I find it's always nice to back through articles on the foundation phase because they always contain lots of fun games that inspire me to incorporate elements into my sessions.
