The return of the new normal?
The 4th of July is the US independance day, but also happened to be the day that had the biggest relaxing of lockdown rules here in the UK which some dubbed our independance day (not to belittle the significance of the US holiday of course). The FA has updated the guidence which is shown below, so please have a look if you haven’t already. Thanks to all who have completed the survey, if you haven’t had a chance, please do so by clicking this link. Right on to the top ten
Top Ten of the week
The FA's updated guidence for restarting grassroots football from Today (Satursday 4th July)
Kevin Nicholson outlines his five A's framework for helping young players achieve their potential. I think this doesn't just have to apply to young players, this could be a framework for senior teams as well. Do you have frameowrks or base principles that your team know must be met.
A nice thread about Scanning and what it is, what it's not, and why you cannot blindly use it without context.
Looking at this tweet from Mark Wilkins do you agree with what are the important outcome staistics for those profiles? Do you have player profiles and then actions/outcomes you look for those players to achieve?
In case anyone missed it yesterday. A little dabble with PCA outside of the top leagues. Some interesting names cropping up!NEW BLOG: Using PCA within data driven recruitment: https://t.co/PsPkK143b9. Building on work by @MarkCarey93 I take a look a midfield profiles in 'second' leagues in the top 5 in Europe https://t.co/0T4YIkuGnyMark Wilkins @biscuitchaserI like this challenging tweet from Yiannis. Do your sessions always look the same. Same size, same numbers. Have you ever varied the designs like the below?
Every week I have something from dan but he always makes you think! how would you feel about co-creating a solutions with your 'uncoachable' players?
Agree with Laura here, whilst you may not think of yourself as a scout because you coach but you're making assessments of players in every session and every game. You know your players better than any scout.
Always great content from the people over at The Training Ground Guru. This time it's about understanding the teenage brain when coaching young players
Whilst quite a controversial figure in some football circles. Raymond Verheije is also very well respected in many. Listen to his appearance in the football fitness federation podcast where he talks about football fitness, testing, isolated and contextiual speed.
A great webinar form The FA's Learning hub on Youtube about recieving skills. some top coaches talking about it too!
