Week 3 - Same age or same players?
Hi Everyone,
It’s a question that is posed in one of the highlights and got me thinking. Would it be best for non-parent coaches to stay with the same group of players or staying coaching the same age group or development phase. Let me know what you think @Acharlesfoster on twitter. Anyway on to the highlights…

I like the questions posed in this blog. Should non parent grassroots coaches stay in the age groups or move up with their current team?
Another great thread by John Harrison talking through the types of shots and distances keepers face and the optimal type of save for them. Should help you when thinking of your goalkeepers. Both how to help them improve and maybe how to set up your team to stop conceding shots where they have a weakness.
With the introduction this season to players allowed in the box for a goal kick this blog looks at some of the most inventive ways to use this change. Do you do anything different to challenge your players?
The continuation of Adams daily coaching session give away. Definitely worth a look if you’re searching for inspiration for new sessions
Another gem from Peter Prickett about learning in the context of football sessions
Videos of nutritious meals to cook for young players. Could pass this on to your players parents to help with their prep.
Like this from Gary here. Please keep this in mind with all the wealth of information you’re probably looking at
Craig Harrison here on how New Zealand approaches it’s youth athlete development
Massive fan of Dans articles. This on our values and beliefs and how they shape us and how we coach
I really like this as it’s always a topic of discussion in youth football. Most players want to compete, you see it in siblings all the time but can you as a coach get them to compete against what Dan is saying instead of the score and winning the game https://twitter.com/danabrahams77/status/1251948799901208580?s=21
Others that I found this week
Football fitness doesn’t always have to be about running aimlessly. He’s some evidence to back up a claim to SSG for fitness.
Another great research example from SSG. We like to restrict to two touch train awareness and passing but maybe restricting to 4 touches might be better?
Thats it again for joining me, as always I hope they made you think or explore more. Keep sending in your feedback as it helps me to improve the content.
Also if you could share the post or newsletter, as it would be amazing to reach as many coaches as possible.
