What session would you create to overcome a Scottish low block?
Hi Everyone, Welcome to another edition of our newsletter. I’ve found it really interesting watching the European championship from a coaching perspective. International football is the hardest to get right due to the amount of time you get with the players. Then you’ve always got the dilemma of picking the best players or the right combination of players. Sometimes the two don’t always match. Watching the England vs Scotland match, I wondered what exercises I could create for my players facing the same issues when playing against compact, low-block teams. wider overloads with a quick switch of play, having wide set wingers that hug the touchline, and also having the midfielders creating late arrival runs to receive the ball from the centre backs, and lastly having centre backs that are brave enough to play that ball into a tight midfield. How would you do it and what would you concentrate on to create the solution to those types of games?

After what happened to Christian Erikson, I think this is a nice timely reminder to everyone that the English FA does a free online course for dealing with Sudden Cardiac Arrest. It only takes one hour and could save someone’s life.

A tweet from Peter Prickett in response to another about Italy's performance against Turkey. Mancini has implemented a great defensive structure that overwhelmed the Turkish team's possession.
Italy were impressive on defensive transition last night -Prepare before ball is lost & react as soon as it is -Immediately squeeze space & men around the ball -Leave space behind to squeeze onto highest opposition player -If ball escapes, hard recovery runs & backwards pressing https://t.co/DybHbMFxQsJosh Bednash @joshbednash2Pre-season is coming up for lots of teams (can't really believe I'm saying that) but to make it more fun for the players but still get the work needed.
