Which will be better?
Hi Everyone, thanks for joining another edition of the Coach Insight newsletter. So we’re down to the final of both the Copa America and the European Championship. Brazil and Argentina have two of the most technically gifted players in the world. I know people don’t like Neymar because of his perceived diving but what you can’t take away is his ability on the ball. In Europe, you’ve got two teams with managers who have changed the fortunes of their national teams, with two squads are brimming with all the things you would want from elite players. Interestingly from England’s point of view, things are moving a year earlier than they thought when they restarted the national coaching program as outlined by Nick Levett here
I actually remember the FA chairman at the time of opening St Georges Park broadly claimed this would enable England to win the World Cup in 2022. All I can say is enjoy both games! right on to the top ten

Another article from the training ground guru team but this time talking through what teachers can learn from football managers and vice-versa. Interesting points around position, purpose, and people. I really liked the part when he talked about the people curve of innovators, early adopters, early majority, and late majority and how finding the key people in those groups can help you build successful teams.

I read this article from Richard Shorter and it really got me thinking about how I respond to players in defeat. in the article, he talks through the things parents are likely to say when a child experiences sporting loss and how, whilst they're well-intentioned, aren't very helpful to the child. "It's only a game" "you'll get over it" and "you did your best" have you ever said these?
