Will Germanys change help them win the world cup?
Hi Everyone welcome to another edition of the coach insight newsletter.
wanted to highlight this tweet from Cody Royle as we all want to be the best we can be and sometimes get caught in what other people’s ideals are instead of focusing on what’s important to ourselves
Which one resonates most with you and could you take forward with you from today or could you add any more “it’s ok to”? Have a think and reach out to me on here or via Twitter! Right on to the top ten…

Big football development news out of Germany this week. They’re changing the way football looks and feels for u11 players. Fun and Child-centered approach with an emphasis on fun because they want the children to develop a lifelong love affair with the game. what does this look like, well SSG, short playing times, lots of rotation, and more festivals rather than leagues. Have a read and let me know what you think.

Do you have a team of coaches or co-coach with someone else? Well, Tom hartley has some tips for you in this thread. From planning and reflecting together to zooming in and out, and mixing up your coaching positions.
Interesting theory here from “joy of the people” Twitter user. In the thread, he emphasises that football is played with the brain of you and the opposition faced. Your challenge is to deceive/take over your opponent whilst not allowing them to do the same to you. Conceptually difficult so I wonder how they transfer this into their practices but interesting non the less.
Lots written and said about how Guardiola plays with inverted full-backs (full backs that stay narrow and close to the 6 instead of the touchline. Here the coaching manual team has an infographic to outline the keys points of inverted full-backs.
Want to help your players and team be more or cope better with the physicality of the game? Well, this article from the Coaching Manual team might just help. https://www.thecoachingmanual.com/blog/how-can-coaches-help-their-teams-be-more-physical
One of the hardest parts of any grassroots coach is the parents, but, it doesn’t have to be too challenging as the Plan It Coach team has some helpful tips on getting parents onside.
Really nice and easy infographic for your to pass on to your players to help them conceptualise passing through the lines.
Massive info dump from Peter Prickett, an advocate of 3v3 in developing players, lots of great ideas for sessions in this thread!
Michael Loftman is becoming one of my favourite people to follow on Twitter as his posts are always insightful and make me think about how I could improve my sessions. This one is no different. Here is taking through “ball-rolling time” how much is the ball rolling in your sessions/how much is active playtime. it’s probably less than you think. considering we get our players for such a limited time, we shouldn’t be limiting the time they’re actively playing. Time your next session and let me know!
Liverpool, Man City, Southampton, Brighton…What do they have in common? A great ability to press from the front. Here the coaching Manual team has created an infographic on how to press from the front. How can you use this to inform your sessions to help your players effectively press from the front?
