Thanks again for joining me on another week of the CoachInsight newsletter. Also Thank you so much to everyone who has filled in the survey HERE. If you haven’t had a chance to do so, then click HERE to answer the 9 short questions. The title today refers to the notion of luck. I’ve met many a people who say nothing is down to luck and maybe that’s because they like to believe they are in control of what happens. This unfortunately is not the case you can only control what you can control, which means you can control the process and your actions but beyond that you can only influence. If you want to tweet to discuss more you can get me @https://twitter.com/ACharlesFoster. Anyway on to the top 10…
This weeks Top 10
Whilst I'm not advocating poker or gambling, the lessons of poker are something that should be taken in all forms of life but especially team sports where so much of out of your control. What I mean by that is "Poker forces you to realize that, no matter your skill, luck is a powerful friend and foe" and learning to deal with the fact you may do the right action but it could result in the wrong outcome. this is also a powerful qoute
"I need to make the best decision I can based on what I know for certain and what I infer from your actions — all the while knowing that not only will I never have all the puzzle pieces, but regardless of how skilled my decision, the cards can break against me"
The second part of Peter Pricketts storytelling approach to football. the story telling approach reminds me of Phill Jackson in "The Last Dance" on Netflix. A definite watch by the way!
A lot of the professional players you associate with having great skill and technique are known to have played both street football and Futsal at a young age. Here the FA talk about the key skills in Futsal and how they transfer to football.
Again from the FA. do you know what a low block is? Here they outline 30 questions and answers to help nuderstand what it is and how to train it. This is a sample of teh content that is produced and discussed on the UEFA A license.
